Chemostrat have established an independent wellsite service that draws on 20 years of experience to provide a comprehensive suite of analytical and interpretative services that are tailored to our Client’s requirements whether operating in frontier exploration, in field appraisal or in production.
Chemostrat Wellsite supplies detailed bespoke predrill pilot studies, wellsite deployments and data assessments of third party data for a variety of different play types including Unconventional shale oil / gas, tight sands plays, as well as conventional clastic and carbonate plays and HPHT wells where tools cannot be used.
Chemostrat Wellsite Services can provide a number of key applications for any play scenario. These include a detailed elemental fingerprint based on 30-35 major and trace elements used to construct a chemostratigraphic correlation of reservoir sequences in legacy wells. This correlation framework can be used for offset well correlation whilst drilling new wells enabling the accurate placement of coring or casing points. The framework is also used to geosteer the well bore in the preferred reservoir zone and the stratigraphic identification of the interval at TD.
In addition, the near real time analysis of U, Th and K and the calculation of a synthetic gamma from cuttings can be compared to LWD gamma data to assess cuttings sample quality. The synthetic gamma used in conjunction with wellsite chemostratigraphy provides a cost effective alternative to expensive and potentially hazardous nuclear tools.
The collection of core allows a broad suite of analyses to be undertaken enabling comprehensive assessments of reservoir quality. However, with budget constraints, drilling conditions, time and expense of laboratory analysis, the extent of core analysis is being limited. Chemostrat Wellsite Services can be delivered on cuttings samples and numerous direct measurements can be undertaken that provide ‘hard geological data’ on actual rock samples from throughout the succession. The data from cuttings can be added to results acquired from core and can be combined with LWD logs enabling the comprehensive integration of log and direct rock measurements.
During exploration Chemostrat’s integrated lab and wellsite services can be used to acquire data to map organic preservation, mineralogy across a basin and to construct a chemostratigraphic and chronostratigraphic correlation for reservoir successions. This regional mapping can aid clients in assessing land positions and to select well locations on licenses. Furthermore, legacy data can be used to optimize the wellsite work program to establish the most appropriate analytical combination for each deployment.
Chemostrat Wellsite Services focuses on increasing recovery in production wells. This is achieved by geosteering wells into the most productive zones using chemostratigraphy and providing mineralogy and RBI data to target brittle zones and to supply data to aid in the selection of completion fluids and chemicals.
